Obituary

Addie B. Jones passed away at the age of 88, on March 8, 2025; Preceded in death by her spouses, her father Issac "Ike" Dotson and Mother Emma "Mother" Dotson, son Leroy Polks (Valerie), John Earl Marlin, brother(s) and sister(s). She is survived by son(s), Leon Dotson, Sr. (Gladys), Eugene Marlin, Jr., Euzema Marlin, Issac Polks (Naomi) and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was honored by her church family and community family. Born in Indianola, MS on November 22, 1936; she was instilled with a great and mighty work ethics, she was blessed with the spirit of devotion at a very very young age.  That spirit was a beacon of her life, and it proved to be so strong and so loving that it guided her throughout her entire life. Sweet Addie B. mothered six sons Leon, John Earl, Eugene, Euzema, Issac, Leroy. Making a great move from Mississippi, Sweet Mama Addie, journey continued to Miami and then next calling home to be in the great red clay state of Georgia. Because of the spirit of the Lord, it reinforced the work ethic that allowed her to be a pillar of the community. She built a great relationship with the local church and the community of Sylvester. From working in the sweet potato factory to also cultivating a farm on Sumner Lakes Road while raising her beloved family.  Addie B. Jones life was much like a farm—what you sow, you will reap. Every aspect of her journey reflects the principles of farming: patience, hard work, faith, and perseverance. As we take comfort in the love she shared, the wisdom she imparted, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering faith touched the hearts of all who knew her. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will forever remain in the lives she nurtured and the memories we cherish. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of God, as we carry her light forward in our hearts.
