Albert Edwards was born in Emory, Virginia on July 10, 1929. He was the beloved son of the late John and Willie Edwards.
He received his formal education in the Virginia School District where he participated in numerous school functions and events.
Albert received the call for military service in 1952 and served in the United States Army. While enlisted, he received numerous commendations for his service and valor. At the close of his tour of duty, he received an honorable discharge.
Upon returning to civilian life, Albert moved to Harlem, New York where he became a meat cutter at a local grocer. He later relocated to Mt Vernon, New York where he continued working as a meat cutter until accepting employment with the US Postal Service. Over the years, his work with the Scarsdale, NY USPS was diverse and rewarding, including duties as a postal clerk and letter carrier. He retired after innumerable years of loyal and dedicated service.
In 1990, he met and married Helen Shaw Williamson. After his retirement, they relocated to Albany, Georgia Their union stood the test of time and endured for 28 years. They were inseparable—even unto death. Albert was a devoted husband, father, brother, in-law, uncle, neighbor, and friend.
A man of faith and belief in God, Albert united with the Beulah Baptist Church of Albany, Georgia where he served faithfully until his health declined.
On March 12, 2018, Albert answered the Master's call to come Home—just hours after the Master's call to his beloved Helen. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by four siblings, John Edwards, Jr., Edward Edwards, Clarence Edwards, and Renee Lowe; and one brother-in-law, Cecil Lowe.
He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish fond memories four children, Reverend Frank (Mary) Williamson, Theresa Williamson, Sharon Spencer, and Yvonne Kline,; grandchildren, Tiffany Miller, Quiana Kline, Naja Frazier, and Robert Miller; great granddaughter, Cyana Ross; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
