IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alfred James
Lester
November 3, 1953 – March 3, 2021
Alfred James Lester, son of the late William Lester and Pauline Harris-Lester, was born November 3, 1953, in Albany, Georgia.
He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Monroe Comprehensive High School. Throughout his school years, he was actively involved in numerous student organizations, activities, and sporting events.
Ready to serve his country after high school, Alfred enlisted in the United States Army where he served with distinction. During his military career, he was the recipient of numerous awards and commendations as he advanced through the ranks. He was a soldier to the core and the discipline he learned in the Army never left him. At the close of his tour of duty, he received an honorable discharge and, thereafter, transitioned to a career in tent installations with Andrew Rents.
Having professed his faith and belief in Christ Jesus at an early age, Alfred united with the Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was a dedicated member and remained steadfast in service until his health declined. He dearly loved the Lord and his church family.
Alfred was a mild-mannered, good-hearted individual with an endless reservoir of love for his family and friends. He laughed often, felt unbridled happiness, and loved unconditionally. Alfred was a loving father, a caring brother, a supportive uncle, a cherished cousin, and an unforgettable friend who touched the lives of people around him in a very special way. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.
On March 3, 2021, Alfred answered the Master's call to eternal rest and peace.
Cherished memories will forever remain with his son, Rophael James Lester of Atlanta, GA; his brother, Donnis (Felicia) Lester; former wife, Detric V. Lester; grandchildren, Destiny Lester, Justice Lester, and Kaiden Lester; sister-in-law, Ethel Lester of Albany, GA; nieces and nephew, Shelia (Jimmy) Florence, Sharon (George) Butler, Kaleciakha Peterson, Catrilya Lester, and Marvin (Althea) Hudley; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
