IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alice Mae
Jones
September 27, 1919 – November 11, 2020
Alice Mae Calhoun Jones was born in Bainbridge, Decatur County, Georgia on September 27, 1919. She was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Calhoun and Lucy Davis Calhoun.
She was educated in the Decatur County Public School System where she enjoyed a very active and well-rounded school experience.
From a very young age, Alice was nurtured in the Word of God. As a youth, she accepted Christ as her Savior and began her journey of Christian stewardship at St. Paul Baptist Church. Over the years, she was a faithful member and devoted herself to unparalleled service until her health declined. "Ms. Alice" as she was endearingly called by many, was a prayer warrior who was strong in faith and a shining example of humility and respect.
She was united in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Henry Jones. Their union endured for 58 years and was blessed with loving children. Domestic at heart, Mother Jones was unwavering in her dedication to foster a Christian home filled with love, joy, and strong values. Sharing time with family was paramount in her life and her diligence in caring for her husband and children was incomparable.
Blessed beyond measure, Alice lived a rich and rewarding life; reached the hallowed age of 101; and lived to see generations of off-springs with whom she left a legacy of love, humility, generosity, and godliness. She had a servant's heart and took great pride in helping others. She loved sitting on her front porch; enjoyed cooking and spending time with family, friends, and neighbors; and delighted in talking about Jesus. You couldn't know her without being inspired by her love and devotion.
On November 11, 2020, God called his faithful servant home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Jones; three sons, Johnny Jones, James Walker, and Robert Jones; and four siblings, Lillie M. Calhoun, R. C. Calhoun, Lucille Jones, and Ethel Banks.
Cherished memories will forever remain with her children, Elizabeth Williams, Katie Evans, Roxie Taylor, Wade Jones, Robert (Merita) Jones, Helen (Nonkey) Smith, and Linda (Vincent) Russell; 37 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren, 115 great-great grandchildren, and 4 great-great great grandchildren; primary caretakers, Tammy Jones, Kunaya (Don) Jones, and Beverly Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends.
