Obituary

Alvester Trice McCoy was born in  Milford, Georgia on April 12, 1935.  She was the beloved daughter of the late Albert Trice and the late Willie Mae Jackson.

During the early years of her life, she attended the public schools of Baker County.  Alvester was a very wise, knowledgeable individual who believed in life-long learning and garnered much from day-to-day experiences.

At a very early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in Baker County.  After relocating to Albany, she fellowshipped with various churches as she continued her Christian stewardship.

Alvester was united in holy matrimony to Robert Lee McCoy on December 31, 1953.  Their union endured through the years and they were blessed with a loving and caring family.  As a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Alvester was diligent in caring for the needs of her family.  She was employed at Piedmont Farms where she labored untiringly to consistently pursue excellence in her duties and responsibilities until its closure.

A joy to be around, Alvester was a very genuine, kind-hearted, individual who showed love in many ways.  She put a lot of effort into making others happy, always had a positive attitude, was quick to smile and laugh, and could converse with anyone who came into her life.  Her home was a revolving door for friends and family, and they all loved her dearly.   One of her greatest pleasures in life was FISHING.  Oftentimes, she could be found outside enjoying nature and casting her fishing line into a well-stocked pond.   She was well known for her fishing skills and the array of bait that she used earned her the title of "Bait Lady".

On September 23, 2020, Alvester's earthly season ended at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital as she transitioned to eternal peace and rest.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert L. McCoy; two sons, Chris George and Jimmy McCoy; daughter-in-law, Frederia McCoy; seven siblings, Sara Wimberly, Vanessa James, Pinky Harris, Willie Albert Trice, Richard Trice, Jumper Trice, and Charlie Wright; and three grandchildren, Takizzie McCoy, Kaletha Hudson-Johnson, and Charles McCoy.

Loving memories will forever remain with her children, Robert (Julia) McCoy, Damell McCoy, Gail (Milton) Igles, Sara (Joseph) Grider, and Freda McCoy all of Albany, GA; daughter-in-law, Martha George of Albany, GA; siblings, Beverly Reed of Blakely, GA, Mary Gervin, Jacqueline (Morris) Williams, Linda, Brenda, Carolyn, Robert Dawson, and John Lee Dawson all of Albany, GA, and Lestie Wright of Columbus, GA; 33 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, and 31 great-great grandchildren; very special friends, David Gilford, Kate Frazier, and Betsy all of Albany, GA; sister-in-law, Gladys McCoy of Blakely, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
