Alvin Cowart, I was born December 9 , 1953 in Calvary, Ga to Inez Peterson and Rev. Alvin Griggs.
He attended and graduated from Miami Carol City Senior High School in 1969. He Joined the United States Army in 1970, where he proudly served as a mechanic while stationed in Texas and Germany.
He met Dolores Wright in 1975 and joined her in holy matrimony in 1976. Four children were born of that union; Ta-Tanisha Turner, Dashanda Cowart, Alvin Cowart and Charles Cowart. Alvin later wed Ella Ligon Cowart and served as a faithful and loving husband to her from 1994 to 2002. He relocated to Albany , Ga in 2001 to be closer to his children and soon after met Patricia Cruse. They were wed in 2003 and 1 son, Marcus Cowart, was born into their union.
Alvin enjoyed his calling as a mechanic throughout his life and held his family and his relationship with Christ dear to his heart. He could often be found reading his bible as a source of relaxation and peace.
Alvin was preceded in death by his mother, Inez Peterson; his stepfather, Otis Peterson; his father, Rev. Alvin Griggs; and his brother, Fred Cowart.
He leaves to mourn him, a devoted wife, Patricia Cruse Cowart; his loving children and stepchildren; as well as a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters, brothers, family and friends.
