The season of life for Andrew Jerome Mitchell began in Albany, Georgia on February 15, 1956.   He was the son of the late Willie Mitchell, Sr. and Marie Jackson.

He was educated in the Dougherty County School System and was actively involved in numerous school organizations, activities and sporting events.

Andrew was a very conscientious, individual who gave his best at whatever he did.  For many years, he worked untiringly in janitorial services.  He believed strongly in working hard for what you want, being willing to do the right thing, and making sure that no task was left undone.  Not only did he take pride in his work, but he truly treasured the friends that he made during his employment.

"Doorface, Andy, and Drew" as he was affectionately called, was often described as an energetic, witty, and happy individual. He was very outgoing and garnered much from his life experiences.  Andrew took advantage of every opportunity to spend time with his family and friends.  He had an engaging personality; a gigantic heart; and he enjoyed having fun, cooking, cleaning, and reading.  He was a friend you could depend on and he was always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed.

On February 24, 2020, Andrew's earthly season ended and he transitioned  to eternal rest.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Mitchell, Jr.  His departure has left a tremendous void in many lives.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of his daughter, Shaniqua Mitchell; long-time companion, Emell Murray; his bonus daughter, Riley Geter; siblings, Dorothy (Karl) Johnson, Mary Alice Bradley, Marion (Charles) Ellis, Cynthia Mitchell, Gail (Jerry) Johnson, Horace (Michelle) Mitchell, Anthony Mitchell, and Jacqueline (David) Mansfield; one grandson whom he loved dearly, Marcus Wooden; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
