IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andrew
Mitchell
June 1, 1963 – June 4, 2020
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted. Ecclesiastes 3:1-2
The season of life for Andrew Mitchell began in Albany, Georgia on January 1, 1963. The beloved son of the late JC and Vera Mitchell, he was the thirteenth of sixteen siblings. At a very early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System and participated in numerous school organizations, activities, and sporting events. After school hours, he spent a great deal of time at the Boys and Girls Club where he learned to swim and draw.
Andrew was a very conscientious individual who gave his best at whatever he did. For many years, he was employed in the construction industry and took great pride in his work. Over the years, he worked diligently to care for the needs of his family. Family was paramount in his life—especially his children and grandchildren who held the key to his heart.
Strong, outspoken, yet humble, Andrew was a selfless and generous man who enjoyed being active; enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends; and enjoyed helping others. His love for family, friends, and the community was immeasurable. His leisure activities included swimming and playing spades. Andrew's quick wit and encouraging smile made him a favorite among all who came in contact with him. He will be deeply missed.
On June 4, 2020, Andrew answered the call to eternal rest. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Jimmy Mitchell, King Mitchell, Vera Snell, Nathaniel Mitchell, Leroy Mitchell, and Barbara "Baby" Ann Harris; and his stepson, Aaron Cheeks.
Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of his biological children and his stepchildren, Rebecca (Reginald) Solomon, Andrea Mitchell, Ja'Nacia Rice, Tekeshia Walker, Shakiyla Walker, and Demetrece Cheeks; son-in-law, Devonta Covin, Sr.; siblings, James Mitchell, Lenton Mitchell, Willie C. (Rosetta) Mitchell, Charlie Mitchell, Bennie Mitchell, Dorothy Harmon, Diane Williams, Betty (Leon) Moody, and Sarah Clay; 12 grandchildren; a very special friend, Shawanda Mathis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
