Obituary

Annie Clara Clay Taylor , daughter of the late Henry Lee and Clara Mae Clay, was born in Sasser, Georgia on August 27, 1951.

She received her formal education in the public schools of Terrell County. Throughout her school years, she was active in numerous student organizations and activities.

Annie was profoundly devoted to her family and friends. She was a supportive and devoted wife who through the years brought the perfect balance in her endearing marriage. As a God-given mother and grandmother, she was a strong but compassionate individual who taught the children in her life to be respectful and independent. Annie was the best sister, aunt, cousin, and friend anyone could ever hope for. She had a servant's heart and felt most comfortable when helping others. Her hands were blessed! She was a phenomenal cook who was known for her very own broccoli casserole and Brunswick stew. "Baby Ruth," as she was affectionately called, touched the lives of many people and made them laugh; loved to dance and sing; and often gave musical performances under the nickname "Lil Diana Ross." She will be deeply missed by family and friends who loved her dearly.

On September 4, 2020, Annie answered the call to eternal rest and peace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John H Taylor, Jr.; and three siblings, Doris Clay, John Clay and Robert Clay.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her daughters, Lawanda Henderson, Shontoe Clay, and Sigournia Hollis (Roye Strawder); grandchildren, Cynthianntia Henderson, Tywanna Starling, Tyren Starling, Jo'Vion Henderson, Rayn Shorter, Siroyea Strawder, and Roylen Strawder; special nieces and nephews, Clara Clay Evans, Mary Ann Richardson, very special cousins, Johnny and Lizzie Mae; a close friend, Margaret Kaylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
