IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Annie Reese
Isom
November 18, 1931 – March 28, 2023
The journey of life for ANNIE REESE DAVIS ISOM began in Lee County, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of the late Annie Mae and Homer Wilson, Sr.
She received her primary and secondary education in the Lee County School System. Throughout her educational journey, she was an exceptionally considerate and attentive young lady with a deep yearning to be of service and help others.
Raised in a strong Christian home, Annie became a soldier for Christ at a very early age. She was baptized and received the "right hand of fellowship" into the body of Christ at the Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Through the years, she faithfully availed herself in service as a
member of the Mission Choir and the #1 Mission Circle. She was a strong, God-fearing woman who never ceased to tell of God's goodness and she
stayed on the battlefield until her health declined.
Annie was united in holy matrimony to Lessie Lee Davis who preceded her in death. In later years, she married Vanderbilt Isom who also preceded her in death. As a wife, she supported her husbands in all their endeavors; as a mother, she worked tirelessly to ensure that her children were nurtured in the admonition of the Lord. Her diligence in caring for her husbands and her children was the personification of a Proverbs 31 Woman, "A wife of noble character whose worth was far above rubies.
Her husband had full confidence in her and lacked for nothing. She did him good all the days of his life. Her children rose up and called her blessed." Throughout her life, "Annie Ree, Ms. Annie, Sis. Isom" as she was endearingly called, led by example and played an important role not only in the lives of her family, but a "second mom" for the neighborhood children as well.
Ms. Annie's professional career was marked by hard work, high expectation, and unquestionable integrity. She took great pride in her work as she successfully progressed through the ranks at Phoebe Putney
Memorial Hospital to become a supervisor in the Environmental Department. Upon retirement, she was lauded as a loyal, conscientious, and dedicated employee who rendered unparalleled service for more than 25 years. Not satisfied with idleness after retirement, she continued serving others as a caregiver. Ms. Annie had a natural gift for serving and making a difference in the lives of many people.
While Sis. Isom never sought to make a name for herself, she was respected wherever she went. Anyone who knew her would also agree that she was extremely straight-forward, unpretentious, and strong-willed. She was a strict disciplinarian who said what she meant and meant what she said; but she was also the voice of calm, comfort, and humility. Spending time with family and friends was paramount in her life; and she always stood ready to help anyone in need—never asking anything in return.
On March 28, 2023, Ms. Annie quietly answered the Master's call to eternal peace and rest. In to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, John Davis and Bobby Davis; her brother, Homer Wilson, Jr.; and two grandsons, Kendaris Robinson and Ontario Davis, Jr.
Cherished memories of a life well lived will forever remain with her daughters and sons, Estella Mathis of Atlanta, GA, Glenda (Rufus) Lang of
Tallahassee, FL, Gloria (George) Green, Ernest Davis, and Malcolm (Trish) Davis all of Albany, GA, Jimmy (Versie) Davis of Grayson, GA, and Lenord (Claresa) Davis of Accokeek, MD; six siblings, Eunice West of South Bay, FL, Roosevelt Wilson of Decatur, GA, and Cora Peterson, Reverend Eddie (Marjorie) Wilson, Ulysses (Sharon) Wilson, and Tommy Wilson all of Albany, GA; sister-in-law, Annie Maude Bennett of Long Island, NY; seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
