Obituary

Annie Doris Taylor was born in Dawson, Georgia on April 11, 1936, to the late Juanita Watson and Charlie C. Williams.  Most of her life was spent under the guiding hand and nurturing of her grandparents, the late William and Duckie Watson.

She was educated in the Terrell County School System; graduating from Carver High School.  Throughout school years, she was actively involved in numerous school functions and was a ray of sunshine to teachers and friends.

Annie Doris was raised in a Christian home where she was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of integrity, strong character, and  loving kindness.  At an early age, she professed her faith in Christ, promising the Lord that she would live her life dedicated to His purposes.  After moving to Albany, she  devoted herself faithfully to serving the Lord at Beulah Missionary Baptist Church.  Over the years, she rendered unparalleled service in her calling as a Nurse's Aide, and a member of the Willing Workers Club and the Kitchen Committee.  Annie Doris dearly ;oved the Lord, her church, and her church family.

She was united in holy matrimony to  Albert Taylor who preceded her in death. She was a devoted wife and mother who ate not the bread of idleness; rather, she often sacrificed her needs for the good of her family.  Annie Doris planned every detail of her family's life with love and care.  Over the years, she skillfully balanced her responsibilities as a homemaker with her employment at Coats and Clark of Albany.  Her attention to detail and organizational skills not only made for a very smooth running home, but served her well during her 40-year career at the thread mill until she retired to care for her husband.  Family was paramount in her life.

Annie Doris had many interests in her life and she was always busy pursuing them.  She held membership in the Martha Chapter #26 Order of Eastern Stars for 38 years and served faithfully as Worthy Matron for two terms.  Along with reading, Annie Doris enjoyed spending time with her family and strolling around Kitty's Flea Market with her best friend, the late Rovilla Wilson.   Her love of laughter and wonderful sense of humor attracted many people—she was a sheer joy to be around.  Throughout her life, Annie Doris led by example and played an important  role in the lives of her family and everyone that she touched.  She will be remembered by many as an unselfish servant with a sweet, sweet spirit.

On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Almighty God called his faithful servant home to eternal rest and peace.

Annie Doris has left an indelible impact that will forever be remembered by her children, Suzette Barner , Barbara (Oscar) Watson, and Larry Butler of Albany, GA, and Benjamin Butler of El Paso, TX;  her brother, Samuel (Maggie)     Watson of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren, Terrance (Shakitha) Barner, Willie Dennard, Jr., Latasha (Curtis) Carter, Adrian Carter, Shaniqua Cross, Crystal Butler, and Lakeisha Butler; nine great grandchildren and one on the way; her first cousin and oldest family member, Ella Reese Crawford; a devoted niece and nephew, Corinthia Dukes and Allen Williams; sister-in-law, Luella Kennedy; a very special cousin, George Watson; devoted friends, Johnnie Mae Gibbs and Cheryl Plummer; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
