Obituary

A Time to be Born.. .

Anthony Marquis Wright affectionately known to many of his peers as "Ajayy-Sensei" entered this earthly journey on June 17, 1995 to the late Toby Wright and Cathy Cody in Albany, GA. He was the middle child of his parents. The family members that preceded him in death are his maternal grandmother and grandfather, the late Louvenia Jones and Willie Lewis; and his paternal grandfather, the late Willis Wright.

A Time to Sow…

Anthony accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized. He became a member of Cray Chapel Baptist Church in Albany, GA. Later, he became a member of Faith & Prayer Ministries, Inc./Center of Refuge Church in Albany, GA under the leadership of Founders George & Apostle Annie W. Wingfield and Apostle Gwendolyn T. Hope. There, he was an active member of the Christian Step Teams Lil' Saints and the Lord Disciple Boyz. While at Faith and Prayer, he met lifetime friends who became his brothers and sisters. Later, Anthony joined Rhema International Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Scott T. Sanders, where he remained until his death.

A Time to Reap…

Anthony was educated in the Dougherty County School System. He attended MLK Elementary, Radium Springs Middle, and Monroe Comprehensive High School. He then transitioned to Catapult Acad-emy of Albany, Georgia where he received his High School Diploma and was voted most likely to succeed among his peers. In 2011, Anthony volunteered to participate in the 4REAL Program offered through World Vision. During that time, he accompanied his mentor, Mr. Anthony Mackey, to Washington DC. where they worked toward passage of a bill regarding bullying and they were successful in their efforts. Anthony aspired to follow his father's footsteps by joining the United States Army and was scheduled to leave for basic training in July . He also was a scholar of music, pursuing his dreams. Anthony performed as a rap artist. He was known as "Ajayy-Sensei". His music was very popular in the City of Albany, and he had a great local following.

A Time to Rest…

Anthony transitioned forever to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11th, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital (main campus).

A Time to Mourn…

Anthony leaves to cherish his memories his devoted parents, Cathy and Anthony Cody; Stepmother, Degayla C. Wright; a loving grandmoth-er, Mrs. Juanita Wright; eight caring and devoted siblings, Jazmen Jones of Albany, GA; Jalisia Wright of Albany, GA; Tytianna Cody of Moultrie, GA; Rhavin Cody of Thomasville, GA; Adriana Cody of Valdosta, GA; Angel Chambers of Albany, GA; Natasha Brown of Albany, GA; and Derrick Maddox of Albany, GA; a special mentor of the 4 REAL program, Anthony Mackey of Albany, GA; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
