IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Antoine James
Hodge
August 5, 1982 – February 22, 2021
Antoine James Hodge, beloved son of Mildred Wingfield and Larry Hodge, was born in Albany, Georgia on August 5, 1982.
He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating with honors from Dougherty High School. Antoine discovered his true passion and love for singing as a member and featured soloist in the school chorus. He was described as having been "gifted with an extraordinary voice and a personality to make it count."
Antoine was an exceptionally accomplished individual who gave his very best at everything he did. As his singing career blossomed, he was highly recognized and respected by audiences, fellow artists, and promoters for his incredible talent. His voice had seemingly endless reserves of power and strength; and when he unleashed his vocal fireworks, he made time stand still. In 2019, Antoine's long awaited dream was realized when he made a sensational debut on the Metropolitan Opera stage in "Porgy and Bess." His unique capability totally captivated audiences, commanded their attention, and left an indelible mark that will never be forgotten.
Not only did Antoine have a great love for music, he had an endless reservoir of love for his family and friends. Affectionately called "Opera King" by many, he was a selfless, generous man with the unique ability to draw people toward him. Antoine always had a positive attitude, was quick to smile and laugh, and was an expert at making people feel good about themselves. Many lives were enriched by him and he had a wonderful way of putting people at ease. If he could make you laugh or make your day a little better in any way, he would feel he had done something worthwhile. We all were blessed to have shared his life. In his leisure, he enjoyed playing video games, traveling, cooking, and taste-testing an array of food.
On February 22, 2021, Antoine transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest and peace.
He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate the memories of a life well lived his beloved mother, Mildred Wingfield; his father, Larry Hodge; sisters, Angela Jones and Amber Wingfield; nieces and nephew, Ma'Kyiah Evans, Amiyah Jackson, and Montravius Jackson, Jr.; favorite aunt and cousin, Geraldine Wingfield and Tamekia Wingfield of Jacksonville, FL; life-long friends Joshua Ster and Arthur Beutel of New York, Andrea Green and Laura Posey McMahan of Atlanta, GA,; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
