IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Antwan Deshanay
Penn
June 19, 1987 – March 18, 2023
Antwan Deshawn Penn was born in Albany, Georgia on June 19, 1987, to Phyllis Penn Kittles and Dennis Johnson.
He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Dougherty Comprehensive High School in 2005. Twan, as he was called by family and friends, was a very energetic young man who loved sports. While at Dougherty, he played soccer, basketball, and ran track. He was a proud Trojan who garnered much from his educational and co-curricular experiences.
At a very early age, Twan was added to the body of Christ at River Road Church of Christ and remained resolute and prayerful throughout his life.
Twan was a meticulous, conscientious worker at Albany Beverage Company where he was often recognized for his accuracy in his work performance. No matter what the task, he took great pride in his work and a job well done.
In November 2022, Antwan married the love of his life, Courtney Duncan. She was the air that he breathed and the sparkle in his eyes; and they cherished every moment that they shared together. Not only was he a loving and devoted husband, but an awesome father and great provider for his family.
Simply a true joy to everyone around him, Antwan had a great sense of humor and a dazzling smile. He saw all people as important and worthy of friendship and compassion. Friends and family all describe him as the "brightest light in the room," someone who always brought great energy and a sense of peace. Although his physical being is at rest, his love, strength, and the warmth of his spirit will forever be felt by the many people who knew and loved him.
On March 18, 2023, Antwan faced the sunset of his wonderful earthly life. He was predeceased by his grandmothers, Pauline Riley Penn, Rosa Heard, and Rena Pearl Johnson Kendrick; his great grand-mother, Corene Jackson; and two uncles, Reginald Penn and Willie Joe Penn.
Cherished memories will forever remain with his beloved wife, Courtney Duncan Penn; his children, Takhia Penn, Kayden Penn, Antwan Penn, Jr., and A'Myiyah Jackson all of Albany, GA, and Murrissa Hicks of Savannah, GA; his parents, Phyllis (Dymytrk) Kittles and Dennis (Maryland) Johnson; siblings, Darris Woodson, Reginald (Erica) Woodson, Damien Kittles, Antonio Nelson, Demontravious McGhee, Yearlean Brown, and Carley Lyons; three cousin/brothers, Antonio "Tony" Clinton, Alfred "Lil AL" Adams, and Brandon "KeKe" Green; mother-in-law, Patricia Hamilton; sisters-in-law, Shayena Hamilton and Dymond Hamilton; brother-in-law, Keyano Johnson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
