Obituary

Arlie Mae Maples Mango, beloved daughter of the late Almeta Burnes Maple and Surprise Maple, was born in Mitchell County, Georgia on August 20, 1939.

She received her formal education in the public schools of Mitchell County.  At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and united with the Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church.  She was a faithful servant of the Lord and remained steadfast throughout life's journey.

Arlie Mae was united in marriage to the love of her life, A. J. Mango.  Their union of love and devotion endured for sixty-three years and they were blessed with a loving and caring family.  Domestic at heart, she was unwavering in her dedication to foster a Christian home filled with love, joy, and strong values.  She was a devoted wife and mother who ate not the bread and remained diligent in caring for their well-being and needs.

Mother Mango as she was fondly called by many, was a compassionate, generous, and kind lady with a servant's heart.  She had a selfless spirit, never hesitated to encourage and support other, and her door was always open to anyone in need.  Family and friends meant the world to her and she truly enjoyed spending time with them.  Mother Mango enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including FISHING.  When she was not busy at home, she could be found enjoying the beauty of nature while sitting by a pond with her reels and poles in the water.

On Thursday, July 30, 2020, Mother Mango quietly departed this earthly life at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.  Her kind heart, 80 years of blessed living, and dedicated service will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Jean Vicks and Annie Mae Mingo; and four siblings, Oscar Maples, Surprise Maples, Jr., Rosa Allen, and Katherine Smith.

She leaves loving memories that will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, A. J. Mango, Sr. of Pelham, GA; four children, A. J. (Sharon) Mango, Elaine (Tony) McNeil, and Elonda Mango all of Pelham, GA, and Kenneth (Ruth Mae) Mango of Bainbridge, GA; sisters, Bobby Jean Davi s and Henrietta Copeland of Pelham, GA; aunts, Lucinda Maples of Albany, GA and Laverne Maples of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
