Obituary

Barbara "Baby" Ann Harris, daughter of the late JC and Vera Mitchell, was born in Colquitt, Georgia on May 11, 1948. She was the second of sixteen siblings.

She was educated in the Miller County School System and was active in various school functions and activities. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Barbara was united in holy matrimony to Bobby Harris who preceded her in death in 2005. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and meticulous homemaker whose diligence in caring for the needs of her family was unwavering. She was outspoken, patient, supportive, encouraging, and kind. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family.

Throughout her life, Barbara had a servant's heart and she felt most comfortable when helping others. She was a very genuine, kind-hearted person who was compassionate and forgiving, and a joy to be around. Barbara was an excellent cook and knew how to bring people together around the dinner table. Her home was always open to family, friends, children, and anyone in need. You couldn't know her without being inspired by her love and devotion to her family, friends, children, and community. She will be dearly missed.

On May 12, 2020, Barbara answered the call to eternal rest—one day after her 72nd birthday. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Jimmy Mitchell, King Mitchell, Ver Snell, Nathaniel Mitchell, and Leroy Mitchell.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her biological children and her bonus child she helped raise, Develyn (Ronnie) Covin, Anthony (Karen) Adams, Fred (Beatrina) Adams, Wanda (Horace) Demp, and Monenk (Naushil) McGhee; siblings, James Mitchell, Lenton Mitchell, Willie C. (Rosetta) Mitchell, Charlie Mitchell, Bennie Mitchell, Andrew Mitchell, Doroty Harmon, Diane Williams, Betty Moody, and Sarah Clay; 19 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; fiancé, Frank Hall; and 39 nieces and nephews.
