Barbara Lewis Thomas was born on May 8, 1952, in Albany, Georgia. She was the youngest of six children born to the late Roger Lewis, Sr. and Mamie Ringwood Lewis.

She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System and actively participated in various school events and activities.

At a young age, Barbara accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church for numerous years. She later united with the City of Hope Baptist Church and remained obedient in her walk with the Lord until her demise.

Barbara was a loving mother who devoted her life to caring for the needs of her family. For more than 30 years, she labored untiringly in the food industry and was passionate about her work. No matter what the task, she stayed the course to ensure that nothing was left undone and that customers were always satisfied. She firmly believed in working hard for what you want and always being willing to do the right thing.

Often described as a very kind and genuine person, Barbara's heart was filled with love and compassion. She had a selfless spirit and never hesitated to encourage and support others. Family and friends meant the world to her and she truly enjoyed spending quality time with them.

Anyone who knew her also knew she treasured her family—especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who held the key to her heart. She had a spirit of sunshine and laughter that could be felt by everyone who encountered her. Barbara will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of being a part of her life.

On January 7, 2020, Barbara answered the Master's call to eternal rest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Roger Lewis, Jr. and Charles Lewis, Sr.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by her sons, Victor Lewis, Dexter Lewis, and George (Sherneka) Thomas III all of Albany, GA; siblings, Joe Lewis and Miriam Lewis of Albany, GA, and Eloise Lewis of Raleigh, NC; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
