IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Benjamin
Brown
June 30, 1948 – May 20, 2021
Benjamin Brown was born in Leary, Georgia on June 30, 1948, to the late Willie "Bud" Brown and Mandy B. George.
He received his formal education in the Calhoun County School System, graduating from H. T. Singleton High School. Throughout his school years, he excelled while participating in various student organizations and activities.
Ready to serve his country after high school, Benjamin enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served valiantly during the Vietnam war. At the close of his tour of duty, he received an honorable discharge and, thereafter, transitioned to a career with the Albany Fire Department as a Fire Training Officer. During his tenure, he created, implemented, and coordinated training programs with the fire chief, deputy chief, and shift captains. He was a loyal, dedicated employee until his retirement.
At a very early age, Benjamin accepted Christ as his personal savior and united with Bethel CME Church in Leary, Georgia. Over the years, he was a dedicated member and remained steadfast in his service as a Steward, Chairman of the Trustee Board, and many other capacities within the church. Whatever his hands found to do, he did it faithfully with joy. He dearly loved the Lord and his church family.
Affectionately called "Pal" by friends and family, Benjamin was a jack-of-all-trades who loved working with his hands; enjoyed fishing and traveling; maintained a positive attitude; and was a great help and resource to many people. His heart was "bigger than life" and he never said no to anyone who needed him. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father and grandfather, committed brother and uncle, and loyal friend whose legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of being a part of his life.
On Thursday, May 20, 2021, Ben transitioned to eternal rest and peace with the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Essie Rene Jordan, Golden Williams, Joe Nathan Williams, and Willie Frank Williams.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by his beloved companion of forty years, Charlotte of Albany, GA; his children, Benjamin (Chancia) Brown of Chesapeake, VA, Latonya Favors of Albany, GA, Wayne Brown and Dwayne (Tammy) Brown both of Atlanta, GA; Sedrick (Temekia) Goodson of Edison, GA, Victor Brown of Leary, GA, Walter Johnson, Marvin Brown, Recardo Brown, Yalonda (Nathaniel) Whitfield, and Daphne Brown all of Albany, GA; siblings, Mary (Franklin) Williams of Pensacola, FL and Zealous (Jeannie) Newton of Miami FL; a special niece, Barbara Blackmon of Albany, GA; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
