Bennett Nelson, beloved son of the late Cleo Nelson, Sr. and Lucille Ford Nelson, was born in Leary, Georgia on December 11, 1949.
During the early years of his life, he received his formal education in the public schools of Calhoun County and participated in numerous school organizations and activities.
Upon the profession of his faith and belief in Christ Jesus at a very early age, he united with the St. Maryland Baptist church.
Bennett was ambitious in all that he did. Over the years, he was employed as a farmer and an excellent horse and dog trainer at Wildmeade Plantation, Nile Plantation and several other farms. Whatever the task, he prided himself in a job well done. Although farming and animal training brought him much joy, Bennett's mechanical skills heightened his passion for motor-powered repairs. His expertise, creative abilities, and work ethics yielded him the reputation of being "a jack of all trades and a master mechanic." Throughout his life, he gave his ALL.
On September 30, 1991, he was united in holy matrimony to Rosa M. Davis and they shared 27 memorable years together. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly.
"Fisheye" as he was affectionately called , enjoyed sharing stories, engaging people in hours of endless conversation, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a people's person who greatly impacted his surroundings. His encouraging words and willingness to help others will long be remembered.
Bennett's earthly journey ended on August 7, 2018, and he transitioned to his eternal home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cleo Nelson, Jr.; two brothers-in-law, Benny Goodson and Philmore Dyer; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Nelson.
He leaves to celebrate the memories of his life a devoted and caring wife, Rosa Marie Nelson; six children, Janice (Reverend Edward) Williams, Shameka Stringer, Ashley Frazier, Bennett (Iuliia) Nelson, Jr., David Jenkins, and Frederick Davis; nine siblings, Pearlie Goodson, Nina Dyer, Ina Nelson, Yvonnia (Z.B.)
