Obituary

Betty Jean Patterson Seay was born in Sylvester, Georgia on July 28, 1944, to the late A. J. Patterson, Sr. and the late Charity Rockwell.

During the early years of her life, she received her formal education in the public schools of Worth County.  As a youth, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and remained steadfast in her faith throughout life's journey.

She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Mathis Seay.  Their union endured through the years and was blessed with loving children.  Domestic at heart, Betty was unwavering in her dedication to foster a home filled with love, joy, and strong values.  Sharing time with family was paramount in her life and her diligence in caring for her husband and children was incomparable.  For many years, she  skillfully balanced her responsibilities as a homemaker with her employment at Coats and Clark of Albany and Flint River Textiles.  She prided herself in a job well done and stayed the course to ensure that no task was ever left undone.

Betty was a source of encouragement and joy to everyone she met.  She believed deeply in unconditional love, enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, and was always ready to lend a helping hand.  Her home was a revolving door for family and friends, and they all loved her dearly.  One of the joys of her life was cooking and her table was always spread not only to family, but to anyone in need.  She was known throughout the community for her culinary skills—no one every declined her delicious, down-home cooking.  Betty's friendliness and kindness to all people and her devotion and love for family and friends are lasting tributes to the beauty of her heart and soul.  She will be missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of her life.

On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, Betty faced the sunset of this earthly life and transitioned to eternal rest and peace.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Willie Patterson and A. J. Patterson, Jr.

She leaves loving memories that will forever be cherished by her devoted husband, Mathis Seay; her children, Dorothy (Lester Sr.) Mills, Patricia (Michael) Boges, Karen (Ralph Jr.) Keaton, Mathis (Darlene) Seay, Jr., and Michael (Shirley) Seay; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; siblings, Ella Holland, Cora Hughes, James Patterson, and David Patterson; and a hos t of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
