IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Mae
Singleton Hall
October 5, 1945 – May 27, 2017
A life-long resident of Albany, she was educated in the public schools of Dougherty County and participated in various school functions and activities.
Having professed her faith and belief in Jesus Christ, Betty was baptized and received the "right hand of fellowship" into the body of the Union Baptist Church family under the leadership of the late Reverend William Boyd. She was an active and faithful member of the Usher Board for many years.
She was united in holy matrimony to J. D. Hall who preceded her in death.
Betty held fast to her belief that work is honorable. Throughout the years, she taught her children the value of hard work as she labored tirelessly at Sunnyland Farms. Betty worked in various capacities at Sunnyland and was hailed as a committed, dedicated, and reliable employee. She retired after more than 28 years of loyal service in the midst of declining health.
Devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister, nurturing aunt, reliable cousin, and compassionate friend, Betty was a good natured, generous lady with a big heart and a pleasure to be around. She believed deeply in unconditional love, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and delighted in helping others—never asking anything in return. Like a bright star, Betty had a gigantic smile that could light up a room and bring joy to everyone around her. The strong bonds of friendship that she developed through the years will forever be cherished and remembered. In her free time, she was a true Atlanta Braves fan.
On Saturday, May 27, 2017, she made a peaceful transition from this earthy life to her eternal home. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Lee Singleton, Sr.; and three siblings, Ozell Ellerson, Jr., Isaac Ellerson, and Carolyn Ellerson.
She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her fond memories, three loving children, Dianne Singleton, Victor Singleton, and Rose (Willie) Walker of Albany, GA; nine siblings, Essie Ellerson, Mary Ann Ellerson, Julie (Anthony) Thomas, and Cassie Carter all of Albany, GA, Sandra Singleton and Phyllis Singleton of Bristol, PA; James (Mildred) Ellerson of Chicago, IL, Bobby (Sandra) Ellerson of Moultrie, GA, and Johnnie Lee Singleton, Jr. of New Castle, Delaware; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Take time to laugh when life gets hard, the way we used to do!
A smell? A touch? The morning Sun? They all will help you see.
I'm still there. I never left. Now smile once more for me.
Live each day. Keep looking up. My life was not in vain.
I finished the task I was born to do—that's why I couldn't remain
Until I see you—I love you forever and always.
