Obituary

Beverly Velecia Adkins Jackson was born October 9, 1957, in Albany, Georgia.  She was the beloved daughter of Bernice Adkins and Arthur Scriven.

She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Dougherty High School in 1975.  While at Dougherty, she was named to Who's Who Among High School Students and was active in numerous other school organizations and activities.

Imbued with a strong Christian background, Beverly professed her faith in Christ at a very early age.  She was baptized and received the "right hand of fellowship" into the body of Christ at Greater Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend J. J. Johnson, and served faithfully for many years.

She was united in marriage to William F. Jackson.  Their union was blessed with three sons—DeCarlo, Corey, and Cortrez.  Domestic at heart, Beverly was a meticulous homemaker who ate not the bread of idleness.  Her diligence in caring for the needs of her family was unwavering..  She firmly believed in working hard for what you want and always being willing to do the right thing.  Over the years, she worked tirelessly at Sunnyland Farms where she advanced to the position of Shipping Supervisor.      Beverly was and extremely conscientious individual who was passionate about her work.  No matter what the task, she stayed the course to ensure that nothing was left undone.  She received numerous commendations throughout her career and was often hailed as a dedicated, reliable, and committed employee.  She retired after rendering 37 years of loyal service in the midst of declining health.

Affectionally called " Beb " by family and friends, Beverly was a delightful individual with a big heart,; selfless with her love; outgoing, and a joy to be around.  She was also a giver—always willing to give everything she had to put a smile on someone else's face.  She had a spirit of sunshine and laughter that could be felt by all those who encountered her.  Beb greatly valued and cherished her family and friends;     especially her grandchildren who were the "apples of her eye."  Beverly fought through many trials and tribulations, but she always remained steadfast and upbeat.  Her life was full of interesting experiences and hobbies, including flowers and plants; preparing culinary delights; decorating for special events; and BINGO.  She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of being a part of her life.

On Tuesday, August 20, 2019, Beverly transitioned to eternal peace and rest.  She was predeceased by her grandparents, Willie and Polly Adkins; sister, LaTonya M. Mingo; aunts, Willie Bell Adkins, Fannie Fenney, and Levalace Watkins; and a special uncle, Will Adkins, Sr.

She leaves everlasting memories that will remain with her husband, William F. Jackson; sons, DeCarlo Jermiere, Corey Jermaine, and Cortrez Jermoine; parents, Ms. Bernice Adkins and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Scriven; siblings, Elder Bernee Williams, Michael Adkins, India Harris, and Wanda Scriven; grandchildren, LaTreasure, Shacora, Nicorey, Corey Jr., Trenton, Landon, Ka'Nija, Rodrequez, and Zacorey; great grandchildren, Remington, Lala, and Ja'siah; a very special cousin, Carolyn Marsh; sisters-in-law, Gloria Weeks, Linda Jackson, Cathy (Jimmy) Rush, Selena (William) Ferrell, and Mary (Willie)   Johnson; nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends.
