IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bonnie Hawkins
Marks
January 4, 1952 – June 9, 2023
Bonnie Hawkins Marks, the daughter of the late Bennie Lee Lofton and Louise Lofton, was born in Baker County Georgia on January 4, 1952. She was the third of seven children born in this union. She was preceded in death by four siblings; Carrie Hall, Lannie Davis, Gussie Lofton-Broadway, Juanita Hooks and a great nephew Malik Parks.
Her educational journey began in the Baker County School System where she enjoyed being in the band and being on the cheer leading squad. She graduated from East Baker High School in 1969. She later attended Albany State College, Albany Technical College, but her proudest moment was when she graduated from Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science.
Bonnie accepted Christ at a young age and that walk in Christ led her to become planted at Christian Life later in life and she was a devoted member until she fell ill. She enjoyed singing and lent her voice to a number of choirs over the years: Thankful Baptist Church, Dougherty County Community Choir and lastly Christian Life to name a few.
Hard work was instilled in Bonnie at an early age. Her work history included Newton Manufacturing, JP Stevens, Coats and Clark, Firestone, Safetec Security and N & J Express. But nothing brought her more joy than working in the funeral business. She spent many years working at Martin Luther King Funeral Home.
Bonnie loved her family and what brought her the most joy was when she was around her siblings, children and grandchildren. She was affectionately "Grandma Bonnie or "Toot" to many that knew and loved her.
On Friday, June 9, 2023, Bonnie's earthly journey concluded and she entered her eternal rest to join her loved ones that preceded her in death.
Her loving memory will be forever cherished by her two children: daughter Lawanda Peterson, son Spencer (Detrell) Hawkins; two sisters Fannie Brinkley, Mary Hawkins, two brothers Bennie (Patricia) Lofton Jr., Rollie (Ruby) Thomas, seven grand children: Sheniedra Fudge, Montavious (Martina) Wilson, Garry Hawkins, Jasmin Hawkins, Nyiema Hawkins, Nia Hawkins, Nadia Hawkins; three great grandchildren: Jaylen Fields, Olivia Flores and Ian Wilson, two step grandsons, Jonathan and Jordan Marks, her life long sister and friend Johnnie Mae Kendricks, Nieces; Louise Brinkley, Lenore Lofton, Rashunda Trice, Serica (Curtis) Parks, Tiera (Lorenzo) Doss, Tieca (Author)
