Carolyn Brown was born in Albany, Georgia on February 1, 1950. She was the beloved daughter of the late John Isler and the late Susie Garrett.
She attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Monroe High School where she participated in numerous activities.
From a very early age, Carolyn was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support. As a youth, she heeded the call of Christ and united with the Palmyra Baptist Church where she was an active member for numerous years.
Oftentimes, Carolyn was described as a persistent, hardworking mother who would go the extra mile and beyond to provide for her family. Upon relocating to Jackson, Michigan, she was employed in the food service industry where she labored untiringly for many years. In later years, she moved back to Albany and continued her employment in food and domestic services. No matter what the task, she worked diligently to ensure that no task was left undone.
"Ms. C" as she was affectionately called, was ambitious in all that she did and she was a friend you could always depend on. She was a selfless person who saw the beauty in all things, accepted everyone for who they were, and openly welcomed them into her heart and home. Family was paramount in her life—especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the apples of her eye. The simple pleasures of her life were spending time with her family and collecting photos. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
On August 28, 2018, Carolyn answered the Master's call to eternal rest while at the Willson Hospice House. Although our hearts ache with sorrow, we were so blessed to have shared her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Bernice Cross, Robert Garrett, and John Isler.
She leaves fond memories to be cherished by her loving children, Kimberly (Tony) Roberts, Robin Brown, Niya Brown all of Albany, GA, and Mark (Latrice) Brown of Orlando, FL; siblings, Mattie Lindsey and Klarence (Brenda) Isler of Lithonia, GA, Emile (Eva) Sibley of Albany, GA, and Johnny B. (Joyce) Sibley of Sylvester, GA; one aunt, Mary (Curtis) Michaels of San Antonia, TX; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loved ones, extended family, and friends.
