Carolyn Faye Riggins Holsey, the daughter of Gussie Riggins and the late Reverend Seth Riggins, was born in Albany, Georgia on March 3, 1951.
She was educated in the Dougherty County School System and graduated from Monroe High School in 1970. While at Monroe, she was active in numerous school organizations and functions. She continued her education at Albany Junior College.
At an early age, Carolyn surrendered her life to Christ and united with the Institutional First Baptist Church. As she grew in the Lord, she served faithfully as an Usher until she moved away.
She was united in holy matrimony to James M. Stephens. Through this union, she became a loving and devoted mother to two sons—James Jr. and Jason. She later married J. C. Holsey and they were blessed with more than 30 happy years together. Carolyn was a caring, dedicated, and devoted wife and mother who diligently cared for the needs of her family. For numerous years, she was employed at Proctor and Gamble, and later at Hot Dog King. No matter what the task, she took great pride in her work.
Carolyn was a very loving and compassionate person who opened her heart and her home to family, friends, and anyone in need. She loved unconditionally and taught her sons to persevere and stick together through the trials and triumphs of life.
On, Saturday, April 21, 2018, Carolyn's earthly journey ended and she entered into eternal rest. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of her life.
She leaves to mourn her passing and celebrate fond memories her husband, J. C. Holsey; two sons, James Stephens, Jr. and Jason (Octavia) Stephens; her loving mother, Gussie Riggins; six siblings, Fannie Riggins Lassiter, Seth (Bernice) Riggins, Samuel Riggins, Julius Riggins, Joni (Carlton) Cash, and Adrian (Angela) Riggins; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
