Obituary

Mrs. Carrie Mae Tinsley Davis, beloved daughter of the late Simon Tinsley and Mary Lee Ward Tinsley, was born in Sasser, Georgia on February 2, 1929.

During the early years of her life, she attended school in the Terrell County Public School System.

At a very young age, she accepted God's gift of salvation at Second Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sasser, Georgia and was a faithful servant until her demise.

She was united in holy matrimony to Warren B. Davis. Their union endured through the years, was blessed with a loving family, and they enjoyed many happy years together. As a wife and mother, she was a persistent, hardworking woman who ate not the bread of idleness. For numerous years, she skillfully balanced her life as a homemaker with her employment at the Elks Lodge. She was later employed in Nutritional Services with the Dougherty County School System where she retired after rendering 27 years of loyal and dedicated service.

"Sis" and "Ma Carrie" as she was affectionately called, was a very kind, good natured, and generous lady who was a joy to be around. She was a selfless person who saw the beauty in all things; accepted everyone for who they were; and openly welcomed family and friends into her heart and home. She was considered by many as a wise and trusted counsel, a difference maker, and a strong but humble person who will be missed dearly.

On December 8, 2018, Ma Carrie rested from her labor and moved to a better home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren B. Davis; four children, Patty Davis-Williams, Charlie W. Jackson, Kenneth Davis, and Warren Davis, Jr.; one grandson, Kenneth Davis, Jr.; and eight siblings.

Loving memories will be forever cherished by her children, Mary (Robert) Moore, Barbara Forde, Curtis (Juanita) Tinsley, and Eric (Stacey) Davis; four siblings, Katie Mullins, Georgia Hayes, Eddie (Adline) Tinsley, and John (Juanita) Hayes; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Linda Jackson and Lydia Davis; a son-in-law, Ulysses Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
