Obituary

The season of life for Catherine Hill Watson began on July 21, 1934, in Worth County, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of the late James "Jim" and Alice Hill.

During the early years of her life, she received her formal education in the public schools of Worth County where was participated in various school functions and activities.

From a very young age, Catherine was nurtured in the Word of God. As a youth, she professed her faith and belief in Jesus Christ and began her journey with the Lord at Antioch Baptist Church. For many years, she was a dedicated member of church and served diligently as an Usher. After being joined in holy matrimony to Deacon Roosevelt Watson, she united with Bethesda Baptist Church. Over the years, she served faithfully as a Deaconess and was actively involved in Sunday School. Upon the demise of her beloved husband, she reunited with Antioch Baptist Church and served in numerous capacities until her demise. Catherine was a vessel who was deeply rooted and grounded in the Lord; who loved her church family immensely; and who always had a smile and encouraging word for everyone she came in contact with.

Catherine was domestic at heart—unwavering in her dedication to foster a Christian home filled with love, joy, and strong values. Sharing time with family was paramount in her life. Her diligence in caring for her family was the personification of a Proverbs 31 Woman, "A wife of noble character whose worth was far above rubies. Her husband had full confidence in her and lacked for nothing. She did him good all the days of his life. Her beloved daughter (Gloria) rose up and called her blessed."

Devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, caring sister, nurturing aunt, and constant friend, Catherine lived a rich and rewarding life. She had a kind heart, a very generous spirit, and her home was a safe-haven for many who walked through her doors. You couldn't know her without being inspired by her love and devotion to her family, friends, church, and community.

On April 4, 2020, Catherine transitioned from this earthly season to everlasting peace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Roosevelt Watson; eight siblings; and her son-in-law, Willie Mosely.

She leaves a legacy of love and fond memories to be cherished by her loving and devoted daughter, Gloria Mosely of Albany, GA; granddaughter, Erica Mosely of Douglasville, GA; siblings, Annie Maude (Alton) Joyner and Jack (Helen) Hill of Albany, GA, Mattie P. Williams of Jacksonville, FL, Annie Mae Sanders of Waycross, GA, and Walter (Victoria) Hill of Leary, GA; sister-in-law, Mary H. Hill; and a myriad of nieces, nephews, god-children, church family, and friends.
