Obituary

The season of life for Cecil Boyd began on December 15, 1935, in Montgomery, Alabama. He was the fourth of ten children born to the late Lafford Boyd and Lucille Holloway Boyd.

At a very young age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and remained constant in his Christian walk throughout life's journey.

Cecil received his formal education in the Terrell County School System in Dawson, Georgia. Throughout his school years, he was actively involved in numerous student activities and functions.

He was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Mildred Banks. They shared a love that endured through the years and a devotion to one another that was strong and unshakeable. Their union was blessed with three loving children who were taught the importance of living a life of integrity, strong values, and kindness. As a husband and father, he looked well to the ways of his household and ate not the bread of idleness. For 30 years, he labored tirelessly at Coats and Clark of Albany. He firmly believed in working hard for what you want and always being willing to do the right thing. Upon his retirement, he was hailed as a loyal, dedicated, reliable, and committed employee.

Cecil had a spirit of sunshine that could be felt by all who encountered him. He was a selfless, generous man who enjoyed being active; enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends; and loved helping others. He will truly be missed by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.

On August 29, 2020, Cecil transitioned from this earthly season to eternal rest and peace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Robert, Lafford, Leroy, Joe, Jack, J.D., and Jasper.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred Banks Boyd of Albany, GA, his children, Irvin Boyd of Albany, GA, Barbara (Ralph) Boyd-Walker of Kennesaw, GA, and Roxanne Boyd of Woodstock, GA; granddaughter, Ashley Walker of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Georgia Ford of Atlanta, GA and Geraldine Boyd of Acworth, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

" Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."
