Obituary

Mr. Cecil Street was born the baby boy to the Late Jesse Street, Sr. and the Late Ella Young Street on June 1, 1929 in Warwick, GA (Worth County).   His biological mother died when he was a young boy; he was then raised by the Late Mrs. Hattie Street and was her heart-beat.  Although all of his sisters loved spoiling him, too, he grew up to be a strong, self-motivated, well-respected leader in his family and community.  He was the "keeper" of his sisters and the glue to holding the family together.

Preceding him in death were one brother and six sisters:  Jesse Street, Jr., Jessie Johnson, Mattie Anderson, Daisy Fields, Amy Evans, Ella Davis and Ruby Gilbert. Three sons-in-law also preceded him in death: Walter Hayes, Jr., Ira Davis and David Rawls, Sr.

Cecil accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, was baptized and became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Pecan City.

Cecil aka "Bud "began his work career at the Albany Marine Base, briefly.  Soon, he began his truck-driving career, which he thoroughly enjoyed.  With a sixth-grade education, he taught himself to operate an 18-wheel tractor trailer.  He traveled extensively throughout the U.S. delivering freight for Wingate Trucking Company in his earlier years and Fiat & Co., where he would later retire.  After retirement, he drove on an as-needed basis for D&D Wood Preserving Lumber.  In Trucker Country, his CB radio handle was "GA Nut Cracker".  Because of his excellent driving abilities, Mr. Cecil Street was the recipient of the Mack MILLION MILE CLUB "40 Times Around the World" Award and the Interstate Truck Leasing "Driver Safety Award" ~ 13 Years Safe Driving.

On December 16, 1950, Cecil was joined in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Luella Smith Street. Mr. Cecil was an Ephesian 5:25 husband to his wife and she was truly a Proverbs 31 and Titus 2 wife to her husband. They raised their family to love and respect one another, to remain close-knit and supportive of each other.  The family always enjoyed site-seeing rides and vacations as children.  And when Mr. Street retired, he and Mrs. Street still enjoyed riding up and down the east coast, site-seeing and enjoying each other's company.  They also enjoyed watching Braves baseball and Family Feud on TV.  For over 70 years, they worked together to provide a loving home for their   family.  It was no doubt that Mr. Street loved his wife and entire family; yet, his protection of his daughters wasn't some cliché saying on a hat or t-shirt, but was one of the most precious gifts entrusted to him; they were "Daddy's Girls"!.

Knowing the importance of being a "Good Man" and leaving an inheritance for his children's children, Mr. Street became an entrepreneur and opened Street & Sons Service Station and Street Tire & Wrecker Service, both on Clark Avenue, Albany, GA.  He met and mentored many young and old as a result of these business ventures.  Because of his keen sense of creating strong family values and the importance of "owning your own", Mr. & Mrs. Street became known as "Jock & Ms. Ellie", stars from the TV show Dallas.  He started purchasing properties and encouraged his children to do the same.  So much so that East 2nd Avenue is occupied with mostly the STREET Family...his children and grands.

On September 12, 2021, The Man, His Leadership, His Legacy entered eternal rest at home surrounded by his loving family and a few close friends.

Mr. Street leaves a legacy of love and memories with his devoted wife Luella Street, six daughters:  Gwendolyn Reed (Johnny), Ella Street,  Linda Gamble (Samuel), Ruby Hayes all of Albany, GA, Barbara    Davis, Palm Bay, FL and Mamie Rawls, St. Paul, NC; four sons:  Gary Street (Patricia), Freddie Street, David Street (Eula) all of Albany, GA and Cecil Street, Jr., (Cheryl), Palm Bay, FL.; three sisters-in-law:  Gwendolyn Beach, Reather Smith and Annie Bell Smith; brothers-in-law:  Jimmy Smith, Willie F. Smith (Yung), Johnny Smith and James Smith.  He was blessed with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
