Charles Dennis Blake, beloved son of the late Jerry Blake, Sr. and Lillian Bowens Blake, was born in Albany, Georgia on September 17, 1960.
He attended the public schools of Dougherty County, graduating from high school in the class of 1978. Hailing from a highly talented musical family, Charles enjoyed playing keyboard and the bass guitar. He always wanted to do his best at anything he took on; and over the years, he too became a uniquely creative and gifted musician. He also loved listening to jazz.
Charles was united in holy matrimony to Damatia Butler and two children were born to this union. For Charles, family was the center of his life. He was a loving husband and father who provided guidance, direction, care and support. He had a wonderful way of putting people at ease. If he could make you laugh or make your day a little better in any way, he would feel that he had done something worthwhile. Charles was also an avid football fan who loved the Atlanta Falcons.
On January 23, 2018, our angel on earth was called to eternal rest by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We will always remember his loving and kind ways.
Precious memories will be everlasting in the hearts of his devoted wife, Damatia Butler Blake; three daughters, Kanese (Grady) Rachel, Kiyana Blake and Khalliyah Blake all of Albany, GA; two sisters, Vivian Blake of Jacksonville, FL and Sedequa (Shaheed) of Albany, GA; five brothers, Jerry (Paulette) Blake of Philadelphia, PA, Edward Blake of Lawrenceville, GA, Ricky (Cynthia) Blake of Albany, GA, Rasheed (Donna) Blake of Birmingham, AL, and Lenwood (Vicky) Blake of Americus, GA; three grandchildren; two uncles, Herbert (Jeanette) Bowens of Albany, GA and Eugene (Miriam) Bowens of Boston, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
God looked around his garden
And he found an empty place;
He then looked down upon this earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest;
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain;
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw that the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone;
For part of us went with you
