Obituary

The season of life for Charles L. "Charlie" Knight began in Albany, Georgia on September 10, 1950.  He was the loving son of the late Irma Knight Williams and Ozell Williams, Sr.

He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School.  Throughout  his school years, Charles was a lively, energetic student who was always ready for adventure.  While at Monroe, he actively participated in various student organizations,  activities, and sporting events.

Charles' work ethics developed very early  while employed for more than 20 years at Belk Department Store.  He was a loyal, dedicated employee who approached every challenge with equal measures of enthusiasm and serious focus, took pride in his work, and gave his best no matter what the task.

Although he preferred to be called Charles, family and childhood friends endearingly called him Buddy—a name that followed him throughout his life.   He was a good guy who had a big heart for all things and found joy in every circumstance.  His sense of humor had a way of lighting up a room and there was never a dull moment when he was around.   Buddy was a "snazzy"  dresser with a style and flair of his own—he was a true fashion icon. The joys of his life were family, friends, and his beloved car—his 1969 Chevy Chevelle Malibu.

Charles/Charlie/Buddy was an extraordinary father, grandfather, brother,  uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend whose departure from this earthly life on January 29, 2022, leaves a void in the hearts of all who loved him dearly.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of his children,  Kim (Lee) Baptiste and Torrey (Monique) Knight of Atlanta, GA, and Kelley Knight of Albany, GA; siblings, Mary (Joseph) Lowery, Sr. of Hartsville, SC, and Barbara Griffin, Sheila Doward and Ozell Williams, Jr. all of Albany, GA; uncle, Lenwood (Nora) Knight, Sr. of Cleveland, OH; grandchildren, Elegra, Leah, Jamari, Londyn, Logan (Pokey), Langston, Kenyon Braylon, and Raelynn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
