IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlie L.
Emanuel "Bop"
October 17, 1945 – August 5, 2021
Charlie Lee Emanuel, beloved son of the late Ransom Emanuel and Evelyn Emanuel Pullins, was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on October 17, 1945.
He received his formal education in the Decatur County School System where he developed very valuable life and technical skills. He was an inquisitive young man who took advantage of educational opportunities that would further cultivate his skills and talents. After high school, he attended the Area Vocational School and completed the Cement Finishing program of study.
At a very early age, Charlie professed his faith in Christ Jesus and united with the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. He was a faithful member and willingly assisted wherever needed. Charlie was a prayerful, humble man who didn't mind telling everyone about the goodness of God. His encouraging words and the examples that he set served as blessings for many people.
On December 8, 1974, he was joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Dollie Mae Brown. They shared a love that was strong and a devotion to each other that was unshakeable. Together, they worked to provide a home filled with love and support for their six children. Charlie was the epitome of a family man who loved his wife, children, and grandchildren and he was a great provider for them. For more than fifty years, he was a successful self-employed businessman in the construction industry. His skills and craftsmanship in cement finishing were second to none and he worked tirelessly throughout the Southwest Georgia area to ensure that no task was ever left undone.
"Bop" as he was fondly called, loved his family; treasured his friends; and was always on call to help anyone in need. He was a friend you could count on, a great listener, and he had a big heart for all things in life. It was nothing for him to sacrifice his own needs to care for someone else. His compassion was authentic, and he asked nothing in return. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pool, watching wrestling, and singing country music while playing the guitar. He will long be remembered for his calm demeanor, no nonsense advice, and his jokes that kept everyone laughing.
On August 5, 2021, Charlie's earthly journey ended and he quietly entered into eternal rest to join his parents; one grandson, Alfred Smith; and six siblings, Espy, Bo, Garfield, George, Alfred, and Grace.
His love and memory will be forever cherished by his devoted wife of 46 years , Dollie Brown Emanuel; his children, Retivera Hughes, Charlie Emanuel, Jr., Dolisha (Jarryd) Mitchell, Sophia Smith, Stephens (Malody) Lewis, and Tammie Shaw; grandchildren, Timothy (Sha) Shaw, Jr., Trevon Shaw, Retivera Smith, LaRosa Moore, Cheryl Moore, Charlie Emanuel III, Aaron Emanuel, Joshua Emanuel, Justus Emanuel, Seth Emanuel, Damion Hughes, and Tashona Gordon; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Laura, Christine, Shirley, and Linda; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
