IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlie B,
Jackson, Sr.
August 31, 1938 – June 24, 2022
Charlie B. Jackson was born in Newton, Georgia on August 31, 1938, to the late John Sweeney and Rebecca Jackson.
He was educated in the Dougherty County School System and actively participated in various school functions and activities.
At a very early age, he confessed his faith and belief in Christ Jesus and United with Beulah Baptist Church. In later years, he connected with Israel Temple Worldwide, Inc. under the leadership of Apostle Jimmy Gardner. He continued his journey of discipleship at the Trumpet of God under the guidance of Pastor Charlene Glover.
In January 1961, Charlie was joined in marriage to the love of his life, Doretha Toomer. Their union endured for 61 years and they were blessed with six children. Family was paramount in his life! He was a devoted husband and father who provided unconditionally for his family through his employment with Enco Materials. He was a loyal, dedicated employee who diligently poured himself into his work until retirement.
Charlie was a strong but gentle man whose heart was filled with kindness, care, and compassion for all that he encountered. Anyone who knew him would agree that he was straight-forward, unpretentious, and considered no one a stranger. If you were loved by him, you were loved forever.
He was a friend you could count on, a great listener and was always ready to lend a helping hand. In his leisure, he enjoyed reading the paper, watching westerns on television, listening to gospel music, spending time with family, or just relaxing in the sun with his friends at Clark's Store in East Albany.
On June 24, 2022, Charlie B. transitioned to eternal rest with the Lord. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Jackson; two siblings, Clara Mae Armstrong and Robert Jackson, Sr.; and his daughter-in-law, Christine Jackson.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Doretha Toomer Jackson; his children, Michael (Donna) Jackson of Albany, GA, Edward Jackson (Elaine Barber) of Albany, GA, Rodney Jackson of Phoenix, AZ, Dwayne Jackson (Evelyn Toomer) of Albany, GA, Gabrina (Rolla) Jenkins of Albany, GA, Derry (Erica M.) Jackson of Atlanta, GA, and Charlie B. Jackson, Jr. of Albany, GA; 28 grandchildren; One Brother-In-Law, Dea. J. D. Armstrong and One Sister-In-Law, Laverne Jackson; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
