Charlie Lee Thomas, Jr. was born in Dawson, Georgia on August 23, 1941.  He was the son of the late Charlie Thomas, Sr. and Dollie  Hamilton Thomas Sampson.

During the early years of his life, he received his formal education in the Terrell County School System and participated in numerous school functions and activities.

He was united in holy matrimony to his beloved Eddie Dean and they shared a loved that endured through the years.  Their union was blessed with a loving family that was nurtured with patience, kindness, humility and love.  As a husband and father, Charlie devoted much of his time and energy providing for his family.  For many years, he was a loyal and dedicated employee of the City of Easton in Pennsylvania; rarely took vacation time from the job,; and worked diligently to ensure that no task was left undone.  After retiring from a very rewarding   career, he moved to Albany where he remained until his demise.

Charlie was a completely selfless person who was always willing to help others.  Though a quiet man, his strength of will and his ability to remain true to himself was admired by many, and his gentle ways gained him many friendships.  He was blessed with a genuinely warm smile and engaging personality, was a source of encouragement and joy to everyone he met, and he touched lives in very special ways.  He truly brought out the best in people.  The most important thing in his life was his family; he enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with them and showering them with unconditional love.  His commitment to family and friends will always be remembered.

On Friday, March 29, 2019, Charlie departed this earthly life at Pruitt Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Eddie Dean Thomas; daughter, Theresa A. Thomas; and his sister, Annie D. Sampson.

Cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of his children, Charles  Thomas of Wilson, PA, Sonny Thomas, Rufus Thomas, Roger Thomas, and Christine Thomas all of Albany, GA; aunt, Annie Hamilton Williams of Hollywood, FL; siblings, Luther Thomas,    Willie Sampson, Earl Sampson, Roosevelt Sampson, David Sampson all of Easton, PA, Mary Simmons and Betty Hayes of Cleveland, OH, and Bennie Jones of Bethlehem, PA; granddaughter, Keyshanda Thomas of Albany, GA; great granddaughters, Bella Thomas and Jazalyn Thomas of Albany, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
