IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cheryl
Binford
July 29, 1959 – May 4, 2022
Cheryl Melinda Brown Binford was born in Millington, Tennessee on July 29, 1959, , Tennessee. She was the first of four children in the union of John M. and Addie B. Brown.
Growing up in a military family, she received her early childhood education in multiple states. During those years, she was actively involved in the Girl Scouts and earned many merit badges. Cheryl was a very talented and astute student who took advantage of every opportunity to learn and grow. In 1977, she graduated from Killeen High School in Killeen, Texas. While there, she was a member of the marching band where she played the flute and participated in the school's work-study program as a student worker in the Catalog Order Department of Montgomery Ward.
At an early age, Cheryl accepted Christ in her life and was baptized at the Ft. Hood Protestant Chapel. She was actively involved in Vacation Bible School and numerous other Chapel activities. She dearly loved the Lord and remained steadfast through every season of her life—always giving God the praise.
In 1980, Cheryl was united in marriage to Sgt. Peter Russell Caine Binford, Sr. Their union was blessed with two children—Peter II and Cheriza. As a military wife and mother, she was prayerful; loved unconditionally; and poured all of her love, time, and energy into her family. Over the years, Cheryl enjoyed a very diverse and rewarding professional career. She was employed in the Communications Department of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and retired after 23 years of service; worked part-time at a local answering service; and was a part-time worker at Customer Elation of Albany until faced with health challenges in 2021. She was also a professional cake decorator, an avid reader, and had a love for books.
On May 4, 2022, Cheryl transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest. She was preceded in death by her father, Sgt. Major John M. Brown.
