Clara Jenkins was born in Leesburg, Georgia on January 26, 1943, to the late Ulysses Jenkins and Katie Bynum.

She received her formal education in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe High School.  Throughout her school years, she  was active in various organizations, activities, and events.

Very early in life, Clara accepted Christ as her personal Savior and began her Christian  journey at Jordan Grove Baptist Church.

Family meant the world to Charlotte and she was deeply committed to them.  She was a loving mother and grandmother who taught her children to be respectful and humble, to love one another, and to love and trust in the Lord. Clara lived a life of kindness tempered with an exuberant spirit.  She never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need.  Her home was a revolving door for friends and family who always looked forward to her soulful dishes.  In addition to cooking, she enjoyed reading, watching television, researching and documenting family history, and spending time with family and friends.

On July 4, 2020, Clara transitioned from this earthly life to eternal peace and rest.  Although her departure leaves a void, she will long be remembered as a friend you could always count on; a committed and unselfish servant; and a kind, giving woman with a sweet spirit.

She leaves loving memories that will forever be cherished by her caring children, Karen (Lynwood) Hanks and Jimmy Jenkins, Jr. (Lillie Moses); five siblings, Carrie Reid of Bronx, NY, Rebecca (Joseph) Aqeel, Amanda (Henry) Jenkins, Rosa Jenkins, and Ulysses (Frances) Jenkins all of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Chasity, Nathaniel, Jimmy, and Shontaceay; great grandchildren, Ya'Kimbri, Londyn, Chonceay, Chailanni, Cherish, Chaiya, Jamiya, and Janiya; a very dear friend, Mary V. Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
