IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clarence Reuben
Green, Jr.
July 27, 1953 – September 1, 2020
The season of life for Clarence Reuben Green, Jr. began in Brunswick, Georgia on July 27, 1953. He was one of four children born to the late Clarence R. Green, Sr. and Eliza Marie Green.
He received his early childhood education in the Glynn County School District in Brunswick, Georgia. After relocating to Moultrie, Georgia with his family, he attended the public schools of Colquitt County; graduating from Moultrie Senior High School. Clarence was an exceptionally perceptive and astute young man who valued education and continued his quest for knowledge at Albany State College.
Throughout his childhood, Clarence was nurtured in the Word of God. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. In later years after settling in Albany, Georgia, he united with Institutional First Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Eugene G. Sherman, Jr. He was ordained as a Deacon and, thereafter, devoted himself to unparalleled commitment and service to this calling. As he continued to avail himself in Christian service, he managed the "calling post," and served faithfully in the church for more than 30 years. His faith and trust in God guided his life and allowed him to be an example for family, friends, church family, and all who came in contact with him.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Maria Antoinette Danford in 1982. They shared a love and a devotion to one another for 38 years that was strong and unshakeable. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Shanise Allisha, who was taught to love God, and to be respectful and kind. Clarence was a devoted husband and father who always insured that needs of his family was fulfilled.
Clarence's professional work life began during his college years when he was offered employment at Procter & Gamble. For more than 30 years, he worked untiringly as he advanced through multiple positions, including paper maker, team leader, and resource technician. His skills, precision, attention to detail, and work ethics were second to none. No matter what the task, he worked hard to consistently pursue excellence in his day-to-day operations.
Clarence was a very unique man with a compassionate, humble, loving, and giving spirit. His life was filled with many interesting experiences and hobbies combined with civic, community, and fraternal engagement. He held membership in the Prince Hall Masonic Fraternity, Shriners, and the 100 Black Men of Albany. Often referred to as a "Corvett" enthusiast, Clarence was also a member of the Corvette Club of Albany for more than 20 years—he really loved Corvettes. His other pastimes included fishing, golfing, grilling, and landscaping. Clarence had a big heart, gave of himself freely, loved unconditionally, and impacted the lives of everyone around him in a very special way. He will be missed by all who loved him dearly.
