Obituary

Cleveland Barnes, Jr. was born in Calhoun County, Georgia on October 31, 1958.  He was the son of Jewel B. Barnes and Cleveland Barnes, Sr.  At the age of 5, he moved to Rochester, New York where he was nurtured and cared for under the guiding hand of his aunt.

He received his formal education in the Rochester City School District.  Throughout school, he was actively involved in numerous student-centered functions and activities.

In later years, Cleveland relocated to Albany, Georgia in search of a better life.  He was employed with various businesses in the area for many years.  In each work experience, he took his job seriously and worked untiringly to provide quality service.

"Badly," as he was affectionately called, was a simple man who loved life.  He didn't need material things to make him happy—just the company of his family and friends.  Anyone who knew him also knew that he was a selfless man and oftentimes put others before himself.   His presence will deeply be missed by all who had the privilege to have been a part of his life.

On February 26, 2024, Cleveland departed this earthly life at his residence. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Barnes.

Loving memories will forever remain with his devoted companion, Annie Doris Hardick; his siblings, Louise Barnes, Annie Doris (Jerry) Harris, Raymond Barnes, and Terry (Angel) Daniels; his medical nurse, Deborah A. Ingram; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
