Obituary

The season of life for Clinton Cody, Jr. began in Bainbridge, Georgia on August 15, 1961.  He was the beloved son of Iona Cason and the late Clinton Cody, Sr.

He received his early childhood and secondary education in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Westover High School in 1979.  Throughout school, Clinton was a thoughtful, contemplative young man with wisdom well beyond his years and demonstrated care in all that he did.

From a very young age, Clinton was nurtured in the Word of God.  As a youth, he accepted Christ as his Savior and united with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership and guidance of the late Reverend H. C. Boyd. Through each season of his life, he remained steadfast and prayerful—always giving God the praise.

Clinton was a man of many talents and passions.   Daily, his supreme culinary skills were put to test at AJ's Seafood and Oyster Bar where he put his heart and soul into his succulent creations.  He thought outside of the box and worked diligently to ensure that his food was on the cutting edge of culinary trends.  His professional ethics and expertise in the field were unmatched and carried him successfully throughout his career.

Endearingly known as "Pop" by many, Clinton was a devoted son, unfailing brother, awesome uncle, committed cousin, and loyal friend who embraced life with open arms.  His engaging personality and common logic touched the lives of people around him in a very special way.  Pop took advantage of every opportunity to spend time with family and he nurtured relationships with people that remain to this day his life-long friends.  In addition to cooking, he enjoyed  music and sports.  Clinton was a die-hard New England Patriots fan and devoted much of his time cheering them on to victory.

On April 8, 2022, Pop/Clinton faced the sunset of his earthly season at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Cody, Sr. ; and his stepfather, Kenneth Cason.

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his devoted mother, Iona Cason of Albany, GA; three siblings, Dr. Carlos Cody of   Albany, GA, Kathy Hodge of Dawson, GA, and Cathedral Cody-Jones (Bakari) of Atlanta, GA; aunts, Mary Smart and Leola Tucker both of Bainbridge, GA; uncle, Joseph Samuel (Diana) of Atlanta, GA; cherished nephews, Michael Alexander, Carlos Cody, Jeffery Alexander, Bakari Jones, and Jacobi Jones and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
