Clyde Mack Crump, son of the late Leon and Bertha Lee Crump, was born in Sylvester, Georgia on July 8, 1955.
During his early childhood, he attended the public schools of Worth County. After relocating to Albany with his family, he became a student in the Dougherty County School System.
Over the years, Clyde took pride in the services that he provided to the Albany community as he labored untiringly with Dougherty County Public Works. He was an inspiring example of a worker who was totally committed to his profession. After many years of loyal and unwavering service, he retired leaving a footprint for those who would come after him.
Clyde believed strongly in family ties and responsibilities and he savored the time spent with them—especially with his son, Mike. He had a great sense of humor, brilliant wit, and incredible love of family and friends. He was full of life and when in his presence, there was never a dull moment. Clyde was always quick with a joke, enjoyed making people laugh, and could always find the silver lining in any situation. He will long be remembered for his gigantic, contagious laugh.
On March 3, 2018, Clyde finished his race here on earth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth (John) Knighton, Betty Armstrong, Johnny Crump, David Crump, Willie Crump, and Alton Crump. He will be missed; but we will hold on to the memories that he created with each of us.
He leaves to mourn his departure and cherish his fond memories, his beloved son, Michael R. Frazier of Albany, GA; a special friend, Glenda Crump of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Where I have gone I am not so small,
My soul is as wide as the world is tall.
I have gone to answer the call,
The call of the One who takes care of us all.
Wherever you look, you will find me there….
In the heart of a rose; in the heart of a prayer.
On butterflies' wings, on wings of my own,
To you I'm gone—but I'm never alone.
I am HOME.
