Constance Y. Bates-Coleman was born September 8, 1961 in Miami, FL.  She was the beloved daughter to the late Annie Maud Law and Ernest Ham and adoptive parents Jannie (Frank) Herring and    Woodrow Slaughter.  She was raised by Maggie Ellison and Lonnie Ellison up to 1979.

Constance received her elementary and secondary education in the Jackson County School system.  She was actively involved in various student-centered activities and graduated from Jefferson High school on June 1, 1979.

At an early age, she professed her faith and belief in Christ Jesus.  She was a member of Mary Hill Baptist Church.

Constance went into the Navy in 1979 and after her retirement on July 25, 1988, she furthered her studies in office  administration at Bryant & Stratton College taking courses in Graphic Design, Legal studies/office administration David  Myers University, class of 1999.

Constance Y. Law was united in holy matrimony to Sidney M. Bates. In this union two children were born, Sidniece Brandy Bates and Marquis Shamone Bates. Later in life she married Raymond Pierce.

She loved traveling, reading, music and dancing.  She had a gift for making people laugh and smile.  Constance main love was all her grandchildren.

On Monday June 19, 2023 Constance transitioned from this earthly season to eternal peace and rest.  She is preceded in death by her brother, Alonzo Law, her sister Barbara Mincey and her sister-in-law Pamela Law.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Sidniece (L.J.)   Johnson III of New Orleans and her son Marquis Bates of Ohio,  siblings; Eddie Law, Willie George Law (Sandra), Alphonso Law, Annie Doris Dawkins, Genotric Lawson (Jeff), Rossie Ann Law and sister in law Angela Law She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and a host of   nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
