Carter, Sr.
April 7, 1988 – July 24, 2022
Corey Xavier Carter Sr. was born in Albany, GA on April 7, 1988 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital to Glynnis Carter Whitfield and the late Cedric Bernard Hill. His father Roosevelt taught him the ways of manhood, as they both loved fishing and grilling.
Corey was educated in the Dougherty County School System, graduating from Westover Comprehensive High School with the class of 2006. He furthered his studies at Albany Technical College and Darton College, concentrating in Criminal Justice.
At an early age, he professed his faith and belief in Christ Jesus and united with Christian Life Missionary Baptist Church in Albany.
He worked for several years at Sunnyland Mental Health Facility as a health aide in Greenwood, FL. He was married to Janay Sharp and form this union five children was born.
A very loving and caring individual, Corey enjoyed being around family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and grilling; however, nothing overshadowed his role of being a father. He cherished the bond with his children, mother, and sisters. Although he was the youngest, he let it be known he was the "Big Little Brother".
On Sunday July 24, 2022, Corey answered the Master's call to eternal peace and rest. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandmothers; Carolyn Louketis and Dorothy Hill and his cousin, Darnell "Rudy" Byrd.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his devoted parents, Glynnis and Roosevelt Whitfield, his loving children; Corey Jr., Janiya, Jada, Jazelle and Jace. Corey called this "The Carter Movement", two sisters: Keshonta Carter and Shannon Allen (Marcus) and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
