Obituary

Corie Tremaine Gervin, son of Sheila Gervin and Johnnie Oliver, was born August 9, 1975, in Albany , Georgia. He was raised under the guiding hand of his late aunt, Mary Frances Gervin.

He attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Dougherty Comprehensive High School where he was actively involved in numerous school actives and sporting events. Corie believed in Christ and developed a personal relationship with the Lord.

Corie was a very conscientious, hardworking young man who gave his best and equal importance to every task that he encountered. He was employed at Albany State University for numerous years until becoming disabled. Throughout his employment, worked diligently to ensure that no task was left undone.

Often described as an easy going, joyful, and free-spirited individual, Corie bravely walked to the beat of his own drum. He had the unique ability to turn an ordinary day into an adventure, a chore into an activity, and a boring evening into a lasting memory. His one-of-a-kind personality, sense of humor, and friendliness captured the hearts of many people. Corie was a devoted father, companion, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend who believed strongly in taking care of his loved ones and putting them first was never a second thought—especially his younger family members who affectionately referred to him as "Daddy Slaw" and "Uncle Corie."

Corie's departure from this earthly life on October 28, 2020, leaves a void in the hearts of family and friends who loved him dearly. In addition to his mother, Sheila Gervin, he was predeceased by his loving aunt, Mary Frances Gervin-Cuff; his brother, Maquel Gervin; grandparents; several aunts and uncles; a host of cousins and friends; and his canine best friend, Brownie.

Fond memories will forever be cherished by his beloved friend and companion, Latesa Monique Davis; his children, Karrod Wilson, LaCorria Gervin, and Cortesa Gervin; former wife and mother of his son, Traci Wilson of Atlanta, GA; a special niece and nephew who were reared as his own, Brayanna Gervin and Jeremiah Douglas; siblings, Charmalica Gervin, Sabrina Harper, Tera Collins, Talkeena Madge, Marquita Nundra, Dedrick (Theresa) Jones, Roderick (Veronica) Gervin, Javontae Brown, and Jermaine Nundra; two very special friends, Jawaski Gilliard and Benny Coney; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
