IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cornell Redding,
Jr.
April 21, 1959 – July 6, 2025
Cornell Redding, Jr. was born April 21, 1959, in Edison, Georgia. He was the beloved son of the late Cornell Redding, Sr. and Mary Lois Byrd Redding, and the youngest of four children.
He received his formal education in the Dougherty County School System, including Monroe Comprehensive High School. Throughout school, Cornell was a very inquisitive, astute student whose mind never ceased questioning; and he was actively involved in numerous school activities and student organizations.
Cornell proudly served his country in the United States Army for seven years. After his military service, he became an over-the-road truck driver and worked tirelessly for many years to provide unconditionally for his family. A man of remarkable resilience and strong work ethics, Cornell was not only a provider, but also an extremely devoted protector who was deeply loved and admired by his children, Deborah. Cornelia, and Demetria; and his grandchildren, Braylin, Ian, and Caden who held the keys to his heart.
Blessed with an inspiringly creative spirit, Cornell was a gifted self-taught artist with an extraordinary talent for drawing. He was also a passionate car enthusiast—collecting, fixing, and restoring cars with his own hands. There was nothing he couldn't learn. Whether through books or experience, Cornell taught himself to skillfully master any task set before him.
On July 6, 2025, Cornell transitioned from this earthly life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Mary Nell Wright and Joseph Walker. Cornell was a great man of honor, heart, and humility; and his legacy will live on in the many lives that he touched.
Loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of his children, Deborah Redding, Cornelia Redding, and Demetria Redding; his grandchildren, Braylin James, Ian James, and Caden Tew; siblings, Brenda Washington, Barbara Williams, Willie C. Redding, and Tamara Redding Kennon (Ronald); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who will forever remember his kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.
