IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Crittie
Shead
August 6, 1918 – January 23, 2021
The season of life for Crittie Shead Taylor began in Sasser, Georgia on August 6, 1918. She was the beloved daughter of the late Isiah Shead and Ophelia Shead Richardson.
During the early years of her life, she attended school in the Terrell County School System..
Crittie was raised in a Christian home where she was taught the Word of God and the importance of living a life of integrity, strong character, and loving kindness. At an early age, she professed her faith in Christ, promising the Lord that she would live her life dedicated to His purposes. From that time forward, she devoted herself faithfully to serving the Lord at Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Over the years, she rendered unparalleled service in her calling as an Usher for 90 years, a Deaconess, and Mother of the Church. "Bae, Ms. Crittie, Mother Shead/Taylor" as she was endearingly called, was a prayer warrior who was deeply rooted and grounded in the Lord. Her faith and trust in God guided her life and allowed her to be an example for family, friends, church family, and all who encountered her.
Domestic at heart, Ms. Crittie was unwavering in her dedication to foster a home filled with love, joy, and strong values. As a mother, she ate not the bread of idleness and always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. She eagerly welcomed family and friends into her home—especially for Sunday dinners; was dedicated to making family members feel special; and she understood the significance and importance of family togetherness which created lasting memories. Family was paramount in her life.
Blessed beyond measure, Mother Taylor lived a rich and rewarding life; reached the hallowed age of 102; and lived to see generations of her off-springs with whom she left a legacy of love, humility, generosity, and godliness . She had a servant's heart and took great pride in using her God-given talents to help others. To the hungry, she offered food; to the sick, she offered compassion; to the broken hearted, she offered consolation, and to the lost, she offered hope and guidance. One of her greatest pleasures in life was FISHINGL Oftentimes, she could be found outside enjoying nature and casting her fishing line into a well-stocked pond. Ms. Crittie will be remembered by many as an unselfish servant with a sweet, sweet spirit.
On January 23 , 2021, Almighty God called his faithful servant home to eternal rest and peace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four children, Dora B. Hayes, Obidina Jenkins, Charles Shead, and William Shead; and three brothers, Isiah Shead, Rakee Shead, and T. Shead.
Although absent from the body, she will forever be present in the hearts of her loving children, Ophelia Guest, Eddie Shead, Willie D. Shead, L. C. Shead, and David Shead; grandchildren, Ophelia (Terry) Moore, Obidina Johnson, Marquetta (Kelvin) Harvey, Melinda (Micah) Quarles, Shelia (Derrick) Robinson, Annette Brazier, Jerome (Savrina) Hayes, Ericka Shead, Terry (Tajuanna) Guest, Kenny (Cecelia) Guest, Otis Thornton, Tommie Myers, Antwon (Kadisha) Shead, Deandre Shead, Chiquita Loud, Calvin Shead, and Jason Shead; 41 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
