IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cynthia Denise
Laster
February 1, 1977 – October 23, 2019
The journey of life for Cynthia Denise Laster began in Albany, Georgia on February 1, 1977. She was the beloved daughter of Cleveland Kegler, Sr. and Matilda Kegler Arnold.
A life-long resident of Albany, she received her formal education in the public schools of Dougherty County, including M. L. King Elementary, Dougherty Middle, and Dougherty Comprehensive High School. Throughout her school years, she enjoyed being active and involved in school activities. She participated in cheerleading, chorus, Pride, and numerous other organizations. Cynthia continued her education at Albany State University majoring in Physical Education and Recreation. She was also an active member of the ASU Gospel Choir.
Cynthia grew up in a loving home and was taught to love the Lord early in life. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and united with the Jefferson Street Church of Christ under the leadership of Minister Malcolm Hall. Later, she continued her walk with the Lord at the River Road Church of Christ (now Church Of Christ At Gaines Avenue). Cynthia remained prayerful, steadfast, and unmovable in her faith as she journeyed through life. Her love for Christ was demonstrated in the way she loved her family, friends, and even people that she didn't know.
On July 7, 2000, she married the love of her life, Edwin Denard Laster, Sr. Their union stood the test of time and they were blessed with four wonderful children. Being a wife and mother was one of her greatest sources of joy and she took great care in creating a home filled with love, guidance, and support. For many years, she was a dedicated employee of the Dougherty County School System. Cynthia was a very independent person with a gigantic entrepreneurial spirit that inspired her to launch multiple businesses—Cynthia's Cake Service, Laster's International, and Grillin For the City. She worked tirelessly for numerous years to provide unconditionally for her family.
A real joy to be around, Cynthia was a very genuine, kind-hearted individual who embraced life's experiences with open arms; who prided herself in having relationships full of love and respect; and whose engaging personality captured the hearts of all who knew her. She was deeply devoted to family and friends, enjoyed spending quality time with them, and freely opened her heart and home to them. She was a great cook who was known for her delectable desserts and a connoisseur of good food—especially seafood and her husband's salmon. In her leisure, she enjoyed watching movies. Cynthia was not only devoted to family and friends, but to her community as well. She was an active member of the Albany Civil Rights Freedom Singers for numerous years Her devotion and commitment was the cornerstone of who she was.
On October 23, 2019, Cynthia transitioned from this earthly journey to her heavenly home. She was predeceased by her sister, Melissa Kegler.
