Obituary

The season of life for Damain Durrell Jackson began on January 6, 1982, in Americus, Georgia.  He was the beloved son of Diane Willis and John Wright.

He received his formal education in the Sumter County School System, graduating with from Americus Sumter County High School in 2004.  Throughout his school years, he was actively involved in numerous student organizations and activities.

At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at Greater New Lebanon Baptist Church of Plains, Georgia.  He dearly loved the Lord and remained prayerful throughout life's journey.

Often described as a very independent and conscientious individual, Damain firmly believed in working hard for what you want and always being willing to do the right thing.  For numerous years, he worked in security for numerous companies in the Southwest Georgia area.  He took great pride in his work and looked upon each assigned task with equal importance.  In his leisure, he enjoyed driving, being active, helping others, and sampling good, "down-home"  soul food.

Damain was a witty, fun-loving, and generous man who was profoundly devoted to his family and friends.  He was an incredible son, brother, companion, uncle, nephew, and cousin.  His love for family was insurmountable and he would do anything in his power to help them.  "Gentle Giant" was the endearing name given to him by his mother for he was robust in statue with a gigantic personality, smile, and laugh that would light up a room; he was "Big D" to  his brothers and friends—he had a fearless and adventurous spirit, a heart that opened freely, and he was always there when they needed him; and to his nieces and nephews, he was simply the "greatest uncle on earth."  Damain will be dearly missed; and the strong bonds that he developed throughout his life will forever be cherished.

On  January 2, 2021, Damain transitioned from this earthly life to eternal rest.  He was preceded in death by his aunt,

Loving memories will forever be cherished by his parents, Diane (Johnny) Willis of Albany, GA and John (Ursula) Wright of Americus, GA; his grandmother, Ella (Gene) Harvey of Americus, GA; brothers, Johnny (Takara) Willis III, Webster Wright, Joshua Willis, Eric (Michelle) Willis, Sr., and Donta é (Tiffany) Willis all of Americus, GA; a devoted friend and companion, Yolanda Lockett of Albany, GA; nieces and nephews, Jon'Nise, Ja'mya, Ke'Amber, Armani, Lila, Marquez, Traveon, Eric Jr., and Jayceon; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family, and friends.
