IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darlene Carolyn
Burnett
April 24, 1963 – April 13, 2019
Darlene Carolyn Burnett was born in Albany, Georgia on April 24, 1963. She was the daughter of the late Carrie Mae Young and Tom Blocker.
She attended the public schools of Dougherty County, including Monroe Comprehensive High School where she participated in various school activities.
As a youth, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. In later years, she united with First Mount Olive Baptist Church; serving faithfully under the leadership and guidance of Pastor Gary C. Sanders. Over the years, she was a dedicated member who served unwaveringly on the Usher Board. While on her post greeting the congregation with a smile, it was evident that Darlene held fast to her belief that she would "rather be a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord."
Darlene was a very independent person who had an everlasting love for her children. Those who encountered her often described her as a caring, hardworking mother who provided unconditionally for her family. For numerous years, she was employed as a Presser with Swan Dry Cleaners. Darlene was a dedicated employee who took great pride in her work and stayed the course until all tasks were completed. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, dancing, walking, and riding her bicycle.
Family and friends were among her greatest cherished gifts. She was a deeply caring and compassionate individual whose life was filled with service to others. Even in the midst of health challenges and adversities, Darlene continued to press forward—always giving God the praise and glory. Her stamina and strength helped us to realize that every day is a blessing and an opportunity to encourage others. She was an altruistic mother and grandmother, a loving sister and aunt, a caring cousin, and an unforgettable friend. Her presence will deeply be missed by all who had the privilege to have known her.
On Saturday, April 13, 2019, Darlene's earthly journey ended when she answered the Master's call to come home. In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Redding and Robert Wright.
She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her fond memories, a loving son, Bethea Lamar Burnett (Betty Taylor); granddaughter, Tijuana Ousley; three great grandchildren; four brothers, Johnnie Burnett, Bobby (Delores) Wright, Willie J. Young, and Elijah Hunter; sisters-in-law Quincy Redding whom she was very close to and loved dearly and Luvenia Wright; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
