Darrell Dernard Woodson, Jr., the first born son of Cynthia D. Walker and Darrell D. Woodson, Sr., was born in Albany, Georgia on May 13, 1988.
He was educated in the Dougherty County School System, and was a 2006 graduate of Westover High School. While at Westover, he was a member of the Patriots basketball team, excelled academically with high honors, and received numerous awards throughout his school years.
In 2007, Darrell enlisted in the United States Army where he served with distinction. During his military career, he received commendations and awards in Motor Transportation Operations and the Enhanced Combat Lifesaver Course. He continued serving his country through his enlistment in the Army National Guard. The discipline and patriotism he learned during is military career never left him, as family and friends can attest.
Darrell had a very big heart and enjoyed spending time with his children and his niece. He was profoundly devoted to his family and always made time to be with his siblings. He loved deeply, laughed often, and lived with an intense energy that permeated throughout a room. Forever the athlete, Darrell enjoyed playing basketball in the community —especially Southgate Park. He ha a passion for customizing cars, and a special love for the Chevy line of vehicles.
On Tuesday, December 26, 2017, Darrell departed his earthly life at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Tempie Ree Williams and his paternal grandfather, Bobby Luster whom he loved and adored.
Loving memories will forever be cherished by his devoted parents, Cynthia Walker and Darrell Woodson, Sr.; children, Amihya Gilliard and Brelyn Gilliard; grandmother, Doris Luster; great grandmother, Lillie Brown; siblings, Indiya Robinson, Dominick Woodson, Reginald Woodson, Darius Woodson, Sterling Woodson, and Layland Woodson; niece and nephew, Azariah Robinson and Dominick Arnold; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
