IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darryl
Stokes
November 20, 1953 – April 26, 2020
Darryl Stokes was born November 20, 1953 in Arcadia, Florida to the late Jack Stokes and Pauline Wilson. He was educated in the public
School System of Desoto and Palm Beach County.
Darryl later moved from West Palm Beach Florida to Albany, Georgia to marry and father his son. It wasn't long after, that he united himself with the church and accepted the charge to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He attended Bethany School of Theology, Albany, GA.
Praise God, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. This is a declaration Pastor Darryl Stokes believes and claimed for himself.
Pastor Stokes was founder and senior pastor of Good Shepherd House of Worship. As the under shepherd, he focused on leading people to an intimate relationship with God. Moreover, he devoted himself to fulfilling the Great Commission by making disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that Jesus has commanded.
Pastor Stokes had a deep passion for developing Leaders. As front runner, he strived to build a ministry training church that educates, equips, and empowers the body of Christ to lead lives of eternal impact.
He took pleasure in small things, such as a cold glass of milk; reading "The Good Book"; getting in an early morning walk; and sometime during the day, taking a nap.
The God of Love called out to Pastor Darryl Stokes in the quiet of the night. After hearing the call of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, he answered and said, "Speak Lord; for thy servant hearest."
On April 26, 2020, God sent his angels to bring him home to be at rest. He leaves to cherish his life and memory a loving wife, Jacqueline Stokes, of Albany, GA; his two sons, Travis and Micah Stokes of Atlanta, GA; two daughters-in-law, Joy and Shari Stokes, of Atlanta, GA; Four wonderful grandchildren, Gavin Stokes, Brayden Stokes, Salem Stokes, and Sabastian Stokes; two loving sisters, Sherrie Stokes, Lakeland, FL. and Flora Stokes, West Palm Beach, FL. Three brothers, Bobby Chambers, Arcadia, FL.; Lamar Chambers, Albany, NY; Larry (The Honorable Tammy) Stokes. One Aunt, Peggy Shade, Gainesville, FL. , and a host of nieces, nephews.
Preceding him in death were three sisters, Emma Sue, Brenda Joyce Gobly; and Audrey Bell Chambers. Three Brothers, Jack Stokes, Jerry
Chambers, and Kenneth Chambers.
